Scientific Field Visit to the COSIDER Agricultural Farm

A scientific field visit to the COSIDER Agricultural Farm in Gerguit Sfiha, Babar District, Khenchla Province, was organized for fourth-year Engineering students in Agricultural Sciences ( Animal Production specialization) at the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture in ElOued. It was supervised by Dr. Ahmed MENNAI and Dr. Leila SAHRAOUI. The visit provided students with valuable hands-on learning opportunities in animal production and farm management.

Throughout the visit, students benefited from practical field-based demonstrations and technical presentations focusing on aquaculture and breeding techniques, as well as cattle and sheep production systems. Particular emphasis was placed on modern fattening methods, balanced feeding programmes, preventive animal healthcare practices, and approaches to improving meat and milk productivity in accordance with established technical standards.
The visit also offered students valuable insights into the management of agricultural enterprises and the effective utilization of available resources to support the development of animal production in Saharan and semi-arid regions.

The initiative reflects the School's commitment to strengthening the practical dimension of academic training by linking theoretical knowledge with field experience. Such activities contribute to the development of student's professional competencies and better prepare them for successful careers in the agricultural sector.
