The Second Edition of the President of the Republic Award for the Innovative Researcher
As part of the national celebration of Science Day, observed annually on April 16, the Prime Minister, Mr. Seifi GHRIEB, presided—on behalf of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE—over the official ceremony of the second edition of the President of the Republic Award for the Innovative Researcher, held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Abdelhafid IHADDADEN Scientific and Technological Pole under the slogan: “Innovating Today to Build the Algeria of Tomorrow.”
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister delivered a message from the President of the Republic emphasizing that the event represents more than a symbolic academic occasion; rather, it reflects the State’s strategic commitment to positioning Algeria among knowledge-producing nations capable of developing and localizing technology instead of merely importing it. The event was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel BADDARI, alongside several members of the government, as well as Mr. Naserreddine BEN TIFOUR, Presidential Advisor for Education, Higher Education, Vocational Training, and Culture. The ceremony also brought together a distinguished audience of academics, researchers, and university students from various institutions across the country, highlighting the growing importance of scientific research and innovation within Algeria’s national development strategy.
The ceremony also featured an exhibition showcasing a range of innovative national research projects, highlighting the State’s orientation toward transforming scientific research into practical and field-oriented applications that contribute to national development. The event concluded with the recognition of six award recipients from the categories of university researchers and innovative students, who were honored for the excellence and impact of their scientific contributions.
The award, established by the President of the Republic, reflects the State’s commitment to strengthening scientific research and fostering innovation by encouraging the transformation of research outcomes into practical applications that support national development and contribute to the advancement of a knowledge-based economy. Particular emphasis is placed on strategic sectors such as food security, health security, artificial intelligence, and the knowledge economy, reflecting a national vision centered on innovation, technological progress, and the effective integration of academic research into real-world development initiatives.
